The Aptos Foundation has unveiled a strategic alliance with the Web3 streaming platform myco, aiming to accelerate the adoption of Web3 in the entertainment sector. Aptos, a layer-1 blockchain known for its decentralized and scalable smart contract capabilities, will see a significant influx of users through this partnership.
The collaboration will integrate myco’s extensive user base—over 13 million users and 3 million active monthly viewers—into the Aptos network. Formerly known as Mcontent, myco plans to migrate its diverse content offerings, including documentaries, movies, and live sports, to Aptos L1. Additionally, user-generated content is anticipated to be live on-chain by year’s end.
This partnership follows Aptos’s recent efforts to expand its market presence, including a collaboration with Alibaba Cloud to enhance Japan’s Web3 ecosystem and a partnership with Jambo to advance digital economies in emerging markets.
The global streaming market remains dominated by traditional players, yet Web3 is making significant strides with innovative projects. Notable initiatives in this space include Livepeer, a decentralized video streaming platform; Audius, a Web3 music streaming service; and Theta Network, which offers a decentralized cloud for AI, media, and entertainment. The Aptos and myco alliance represents a key move in this evolving industry.
