Ripple to Participate in Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Digital HKD Pilot Program

BlockBeats news, on May 18, according to Cointelegraph, Ripple will participate in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) digital HKD pilot program and demonstrate its new CBDC platform. The company will also cooperate with banks such as Taiwan’s Fubon Bank to use the retail version of the electronic Hong Kong dollar CBDC to display tokenized assets issued by equity.

The pilot project will run on Ripple‘s new CBDC platform, which is based on XRP ledger technology and a new private ledger with enhanced features.

James Wallis, vice president of central banking affairs and CBDC at Ripple, said that the pilot project will delve into the use cases and application, implementation and design issues related to e-HKD, and the experience of this project will affect any decision of HKMA to launch the electronic Hong Kong dollar at a later date .
