Cynthia Lummis calls on DOJ to take action against Binance

Cynthia Lummis, a crypto advocate who represents Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to consider charges against crypto exchange Binance following the terrorist group Hamas’ attack on Israel.

In an Oct. 26 letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Lummis and Arkansas Rep. French Hill urged Justice Department officials to “reach a charging decision on Binance” and “expeditiously conclude” investigations into alleged illegal activities involving Tether. The two lawmakers’ comments came after Hamas launched a coordinated attack against Israel on Oct. 7, which they said was supported in part by illicit crypto transactions that “provide significant terrorist financing.”
