25 Projects Advance to Final Stage of 2024 Polkadot Hackathon

As the 2024 Polkadot Hackathon approaches its final stages, 25 standout projects have progressed to the concluding phase of the Singapore round. The competition, which kicked off on July 11, will culminate with Demo Day events scheduled for September 17 in Singapore and November 16 in Bangkok.

The hackathon attracted 279 developers who formed 69 teams and submitted 34 projects for initial evaluation. The rigorous selection process assessed each project based on technical complexity, completion status, and adherence to standards, ultimately narrowing the field to 25 finalists.

The judging panel features prominent figures including Substrate community developer Kaichao, PaperMoon Developer Relations Engineer Jun Zhou, and Nicolas Martin Hussein.

Among the finalists are WeTEE, which provides decentralized computing power for the Polkadot ecosystem, enabling secure deployment of Web2 applications without code alterations. Enhanced Token Fortress (ETF.one) is another notable finalist, offering a zero-trust Web3 asset management platform.

Other highlighted projects include iNFT, which simplifies blockchain application deployment through the Anchor Network, and FlyAIMusic, a decentralized platform enhancing copyright management and revenue distribution for music creators. Additionally, Conduits offers a blockchain solution for decentralized resource access, OpenAuth provides Web3 authentication and custodial wallet integration, and Bolarity facilitates interoperability across various virtual machines.

Despite market volatility, the Polkadot ecosystem remains robust. Recent statistics reveal 29,917 repositories with over 5,500 weekly commits and approximately 900 active developers contributing each week.

Looking ahead, Polkadot Decoded Asia will take place later this month in Singapore as part of TOKEN2049 Week. The conference will spotlight the Polkadot ecosystem and Web 3.0 innovations, with extensive preparations already in progress.

Additionally, the highly anticipated Polkadot Mobile App, previewed by Parity CEO Bjorn Wagner at Polkadot Decoded, is set to launch for select users in September 2024. The app will offer features including passwordless onboarding, wallet funding with DOT or stablecoins, and the ability to make purchases at over one million stores, with staking functionality to follow.
