SoMon Achieves Rapid Growth as Web3’s Leading Social App

SoMon, a pioneering decentralized Web3 forum designed to empower user-owned content and connections, has made a significant splash in the digital space with the recent launch of its app on Base. Within just 14 days, the platform has amassed over 300,000 on-chain transactions, establishing itself as the most active and fastest-growing social application in the Web3 ecosystem.

Launched on June 19, 2024, SoMon, short for Social Monster, offers users the ability to monetize and build communities, known as Tribes, around their interests, passions, and favorite creators. It stands out as the inaugural app utilizing the OpenSocial Protocol, a groundbreaking infrastructure for social applications. Additionally, SoMon is the first Web3 social app to operate without gas fees, significantly lowering entry barriers and expanding its appeal beyond the traditional crypto community.

The app has seen an impressive surge in engagement, with over 30,000 on-chain registrations within its first two weeks. SoMon’s growing ecosystem now includes more than 2 million social interactions spread across 300+ Tribes, and a user base exceeding 80,000.

Sean Tao, CEO & Co-Founder of SoMon, emphasized the platform’s unique value proposition: “Crypto is all about community, but instead of creating communities for users, we want communities to be built by users. SoMon is a user-curated space where people are able to connect with one another while taking charge and reaping the benefits of their own social achievements at the same time.”

A new feature released on July 17, 2024, allows users to mint their own Tribes using NFT technology, enabling content creation and monetization. The platform’s ‘Megaphone’ tool facilitates promotional visibility purchases, with the revenue shared among Tribe owners and stakeholders.

SoMon is currently in its inaugural season, which concludes on July 31, 2024. During this period, users accumulate points through interactions and earn badges as they progress through different leagues. At the season’s end, SoMon will introduce its community token, $OwO, with an initial airdrop of 3% of the total supply scheduled for August 1, 2024, followed by 1% airdrops in subsequent seasons.

Looking ahead, SoMon aims to energize its community economy through its Tribe Summer campaign, encouraging users to foster and engage with their ad-free communities.
